PAX Autocross Class

PAX Autocross Class

In addition to the classes in the rule book, beginning with the 2001 autocross series, there is a new class, PAX (Performance Index Autocross Correction Factors), which offers a more challenging level of competition. For questions or comments, email our competition chairman, David Leong. Is PAX for you? · PAX levels the playing field so you can fairly compete in a stock car against the super-zoomy cars. · We expect PAX to attract many of our best and most-experienced drivers, so it should offer a more challenging level of competition. · PAX allows you to drive different cars during the season, or change your car to a new class over the course of the season, and have all events count in one class - PAX. How does it work? · Multi-year historical data was reviewed and handicap index numbers were assigned to each class. See table · Those competing in PAX class will have the appropriate index number applied to their best run. Any cone penalties are added on top of that. · The number in the table is a multiplier. Here's how it works. Suppose an AX14L turns a 38 second lap, and someone in a AX3 class turns a 34 second lap. By applying the numbers in the table, the AX14L beats the AX3. The adjusted AX14L time is 38.000 x 0.869 = 33.022; the adjusted AX3 car's time is 34.000 x 1.000 = 34.000. · Ladies classes have a higher index number than standard classes, so there is no PAXL class. · You can compete in PAX in addition to your regular class. How do you enter? · Just participate in an autocross. Fill in the normal class of whatever you are driving at the event on your timing card you are automatically entered. 2006 Appendix B2: Performance Index Autocross Correction Factors The complete rule book is available here.
